Jonathan maberry has found a delightful voice for this adventure of joe ledger and his crew. Joe is a fantastic character full of compassion real vulnerabilities and a deliciously dark sense of humor. The recent plethora of novels that combine and fuse horror with other genres is astounding. Patient zero goes beyond this and never sinks to simple gross out tactics. Most of these books fail.

In patient zero our narrator is a little boy in the hospital. While not required i encourage readers to seek out the on line short story by jonathan maberry titled countdown. I had a fine old time reading patient zero.
