I had loved hillenbrand s previous work seabiscuit and had bought a copy of unbroken back in 2010 as soon as it was released. Unbroken is an amazing survival story but this book is also so grim that it took me five years to finish it. Clearly the title of the book unbroken is well chosen.

My observation was that louie s life was unbroken and perhaps unshattered thanks to his amazing will perseverance leadership and coming in contact with the reverend billy graham.
